I always see a lot of girls complaining about how they’re treated shitty when they walk into GameStops and undermined/feel like they have to prove themselves as gamers. This isn’t the companies fault, this is the individual little shit working the store that day.
Go to a different GameStop in your area then, not all of them are filled with shitty people. There’s a spike in hiring girls so a lot of them will have other girls working that will probably make you feel more comfortable. Many girls who have come into my GameStop have thanked me for being there and call to ask if I’m there or if my female coworker is because they feel like they can relate to us more. I’ve even had guys do this too just because I know what I’m talking about.

Another approach is to grab everything on Amazon, it’s usually a lot cheaper anyways (even for me with my discount).

There’s really no reason to be uncomfortable in the first place though, enjoy whatever games you enjoy and that’s that. No matter how girly or weird you think the games are. (Embrace your Harvest Moon/Animal Crossing guilty pleasures, I enjoy the shit out of them too!) And if you think it’s uncomfortable and you feel like you’re being judged as a consumer, female employees get put down and questioned 10x more (“Do you actually play games or are you just here for looks?!”).

So game on shamelessly.
